FOX just told the party of Gods, Guns, and Gays that Tea Party Patron Saint, David Koch, ain't singing from the same hymn sheet. We're not talking a single-issue disagreement you can paper over, either. This is full-blown apostasy.
Buried on the FOX "News" site is this Friday Night News Dump with the following revelations:
"The Libertarian-minded Koch -- whose brother, Charlie, also is a big GOP supporter -- made the remarks Thursday on the sidelines of the Republican National Convention.
"I believe in gay marriage," the 72-year-old Koch told Politico. He was in Tampa as a New York delegate and to attend an event held by Americans for Prosperity -- the political advocacy group he helps fund and lead."
That's just for starters. When David Koch goes rogue, he goes after ALL the sacred cows!
He also told the newspaper the U.S. military should withdraw from the Middle East and that the federal government should consider tax increases and defense-spending cuts to improve fiscal woes.
You read that right. David Koch just endorsed 4 key components of Obama's core policies.
To review:
1) Support for gay marriage.
2) INCREASE TAXES.
3) CUT DEFENSE SPENDING
4) Draw down troops in the Middle East.
Sounds like Sheldon Adelson will be crossing David Koch off his Christmas list. And he won't be the only one with shpilkis. I won't be surprised to see Grover Norquist, AIPAC, Tony Perkins, Rick Santorum and the NRA elbowing each other to tee off on this guy. Remember Richard Lugar? The Tea Party whack jobs in the crazy clown car lynched him for a whole lot less. Of course, Lugar wasn't writing any checks, so don't expect any of the crazy Koch suckers to stand up to this guy. Watching Hannity, Limbaugh, and the rest of his minions throw away their core principles and bend over for him will just make this all the more fun to watch.
I realize that image is so surreal, you might think this is elaborate snark. It isn't. Head on over to FOX and share this link with your friends :)
This raises the obvious question. What prompted this outburst? Unlike Coulter, this is not something uttered in the midst of a rabid tirade. The fact this interview with Politico happened on the convention floor during Romney's acceptance speech speaks volumes. In an earlier posting, by Kossack, I am a Patriot, he speculates this may be pre-positioning by a canny political player. It's entirely possible that I am a Patriot is correct they are getting ready to deep-six their astroturf operations and clear the decks for 2016 when there will be NO incumbents from either party running. However, that's seems too cute by half. If that was the strategy, he could just stop writing checks. By knocking down these pillars of faith within the Republican Party, he is making it clear they are only in bed together for one reason.
