According to my calculations my employers and me have paid at least $90,000 to health insurance companies in the last 20 years, for myself alone. $90,000 for just myself for health care insurance I have yet to use. And each year, that money means nothing because my employer changes insurers to get a better price.
So basically my employers and I have been paying for health care every month for 28 years and that $90,000 means nothing to my current insurance company.
All of that money that has been paid to insurance companies is gone.
Don't get me wrong, I don't mind paying for health care. Not at all. Actually I currently pay cash for whatever health care I need. It ends up being approximately the same amount as paying my deductible and I'd rather give my money to the doctors than the insurance company.
I buy insurance for the catastrophic part only.
Just imagine how much money there would be if everyone's health insurance payments went into a federal fund each month. A fund that did not pay profits to executives. A fund that was consistent over time and a fund that did not discard all of your previous health insurance payments.
Every month you don't use your health insurance is a month that money disappears into the pockets of underwriters, sales staff and executives of these health care insurance companies.
Imagine what this country could do for the sick and dying if everyone and every corporation deposited the money they currently pay for healthcare insurance into a federal health care fund which covers everyone in the country.
It would be so easy and physicians wouldn't have to worry about losing their income.
There would be enough money to pay physicians, nurses, and every medical professional in this country with money to spare.
Why America isn't doing this is short of insanity.
I would rather give my money to a physician, nurse, lab tech, x-ray tech or CNA than give it to an executive working for an insurance company.
This health care system needs to end.
