Instead of ignoring the right wing email that crawled into my in-box, I will try sending a rebuttal to the whole damn list of them.
My response email would be as follows . . . what do you think?
I was hesitant to answer this mass email because of its stupid and offensive content.
However, sometimes silence is a bad idea. I offer rebuttals on two points.
Warning: offensive graphic and vocabulary below the fold
.. continued ..
... and my email rant continues ...
1. Policy Basis
The message depends on your ignorance. Specifically it only works if you know nothing at all about the declared Republican strategy to
(a) obstruct everything,
(b) blame Obama for not getting anything done.
It also depends on your ignorance of the role of the debt ceiling in public policy. (hint: none - - it only recognizes other policy)
It also depends on your ignorance of the amount of debt created in the GWB administration versus the Obama administration. (hint: large vs small)
It also depends on your ignorance of the causes of the debts in those two administrations. (hint: war & tax cuts for the rich vs job creation).
So... yeah... pass this message along if you are deeply, profoundly ignorant, and if you want to vote based on your ignorance without bothering to learn more.
2. Emotion/Message Basis
The secondary message, if rephrased to be frank and above board, would be:
Nigger!
Obama is a nigger!
There's a nigger in the white house!
Lazy lazy stealing nigger!
Because face it, that drawing only works if you know that you can picture our President as a good-for-nothing low-class ghetto boyfriend. In other words, yeah, you're calling him a nigger. The suit doesn't fool you. Being at the top of his class at Harvard doesn't fool you. Struggling from poverty to success doesn't fool you. The dude's a nigger and you aren't voting for him.
So... yeah... pass the message along if that's your real attitude.
If you're really afraid to say it out loud, and you only want to kind of sneakily agree with it when it's in a sort of nasty but funny drawing - - time to make a decision. Are you a nigger-hating segregationist or not? If not, then you should have no part in sharing this drawing, or pretending it's funny or has any bearing on the election.
Fair credit: I'm not the first to point this out. See also http://rudepundit.blogspot.com/...

and this screed
THE campaign poster to end all posters...
This is too good... Be sure to check out where the "quote" came from...
The Quote of the Decade:
"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America 's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that, "the buck stops here.' Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better."
~ Senator Barack H. Obama, March 2006 Pass it on 'til eternity.. (.. .it was so nice of him to give us this great quote for posterity!) SO, USE IT!!!
