We may lose this election but I strongly doubt that. The Republican philosophy just cannot stand up against the Democratic point of view.
This nation was founded on the idea that a bunch of people talking together about solutions to problems is a wiser method than concentrating the decision making process into too few nutjobs.
Republicans are still trying to sell the idea that a nation of individuals can reach better conclusions than a herd of cats. A herd of cats that has spots, stripes, grey fur, orange fur, long tails and short and none at all, rocks better when everyone is welcome at the food bowl. The extreme elements of the dialogue just don't seem to get the point, we work better together

The Democratic Party embodies the self evident evolution of our collective wisdom. Contrasting the two conventions made it very clear that one party has only fear and loathing for sale while the other knows the lessons of history. Being part of a successful society makes us individually want to contribute to its continued success, not just hoard what little profit we can squeeze out for our little corner. Cooperation trumps greed, every time.
The less evolved minority of Humanity may think that they have more gambling chips on their side of the ledger but the Progressives have the more valuable assets. Progressives have insight and creativity, youthful exuberance for tomorrow, acceptance of the contribution anyone can make regardless of the circumstances of birth. All People are created equal.
I hope the Republicans and their allies spend much of their vast resources failing to turn the tide of decency. Democratically leaning people seem to be innately nicer and more optimistic, so I just can't see any other winning philosophy. The logic is too powerful.
My President, Barack Obama, is simply the smartest person we have to represent our best interests. We are at the point in our physical, philosophical, and spiritual evolution when our understanding of global problems demands less self centered solutions. Mr. Obama makes it clear to me he understands our dilemmas better than anyone his age I have yet encountered. Yep, he is one brilliant young pup and I am glad we have that. Yep, the Democratic convention showed our collective brilliance and we can still hope to overcome the difficulties we face, with Us on our side. We own the message, we own the energy, we share the future with our siblings and the convention made clear our vision is polished by a better grade of honesty. We get much better mileage out of our bucks because we appreciate their value; you can't outspend the human spirit. We have a much more capable base of speech writers too.
Mr. Obama articulates better, that he will succeed when he helps us understand our job is to improve the life of those that will be coming along after us. It will be better NOW, if we focus on our children's future. It really isn't about "me", no matter how hard the reactionaries try. The future has always been better than a nostalgic view of 50 years ago.
One of my favorite lyricists is Laurie Anderson, in her album "Strange Angels" from 1989. Here is a classic line
"OK! OK! Hold it
I just want to say something.
You know, for every dollar a man makes
a woman makes 63 cents.
Now, fifty years ago that was 62 cents.
So, with that kind of luck, it'll be the year 3,888
before we make a buck......."
What is that? 23 years ago? It almost looks like we are ahead of schedule.....
Do yourself a favor someday and listen to the music and lyrics of the entire album
This YouTube album is a little messed up between 6 minute mark and 10 minute. Go figure, but it is really worth it, according to me.
Done with this rambling rant for a while. Gotta GOTV for a bit......
