I live in Nashville. My friends and relatives in California assume that everyone here wears cowboys boots and hats and sings songs about driving a big truck, drinking beer, living in a small town and waving the flag (Hank Williams Jr.'s dumb-ass anti-Obama tirade) Of course, Nashville ain't nothing like the official mythology being perpetuated by the current crop of middle-of-the road commercial country music artists. And not all the music being made in Nashville is commercial country music.
Case in point. My Nashville-based band, Shelby Bottom String Band, just put out a song on YouTube called Obama Back Again. It is our aspirational video for Obama's re-election. We want to get it out around the country for several reasons. 1) Now we know that Tennessee is not going to vote for Obama but we want show the country that not everyone who lives in Tennessee is a right wing Republican. 2) We want to share our acoustic Americana music. 3) We want to do our little part to help get Obama re-elected. Give it a look and pass it along, especially to folks in other parts of the country. It's time to dispel the myths about Tennessee! http://www.youtube.com/...
