In a statement to the AP, Romney's campaign tries to walk back from his earlier statement, that the middle class earns "$200,000 to $250,000 or less." In Romney's world, that probably seems like a struggling middle class salary. In reality, the median household income in the US is $50,054 (as of 2011), down from $54,489 in 2007 (thanks G Dubs).
After getting a storm of criticism about being "out of touch" with reality and middle class voters, his campaign tried to justify his statement, with more bullshit. They stated that "Romney was referencing household income, not individual income," which is still completely false. He believes the median household income in the country is quadruple what it actually is.
If he doesn't understand what reality is, what the problems are and where 99% of the country stands financially, he's not fit to run for city council, forget President of anything (except maybe President of his country club, I think he is qualified for that position)
