The Baldwin campaign has just released an internal poll they conducted between September 9th to the 12th of 800 likely voters in the Badger state today. It gives Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin (D) a five point lead over former Governor, Tommy Thompson (R). Baldwin gets 50% to Thompson's 45% with 5% still undecided:

Back in August, Thompson was beating Baldwin, 50% to 44%. Why does Baldwin's poll give her the lead? This might answer your question:
In the weeks since Thompson's primary victory, Baldwin and her allies have hammered the former governor with negative television ads. The attacks have centered on Thompson's post-gubernatorial career, focusing especially on his work at a top Washington, D.C. lobbying firm. According to the polling memo, 39 percent of likely voters in Wisconsin now have a favorable opinion of Thompson, while 46 percent have an unfavorable opinion.

10:09 AM PT: PPP is confirming that Baldwin is in the lead only their poll shows the race a little tighter with Baldwin getting 48% and Thompson getting 45%. The poll also shows that Baldwin's negative attack ads are taking their toll. Here's the poll PPP did on behalf of Democracy For America:
