Dear Mr. Romney,
I am one of the 47% you spoke of recently. So are the rest of my family. And my friends. My neighbors and co-workers. We are people who will be voting for President Obama (again) in November, no matter what you say. You see, people like us could never vote for people like you. You think you know us. You don’t.
You see, people like us have jobs or don’t. We believe in a Supreme Being or we don’t. We love people of the opposite gender or the same. Whatever. It’s not important. People like us have ancestors who have been in this country for generations. Or we came here as children with parents desperately trying to give us something better. People like us.
People like us sew the clothes you wear on your back.
People like us grow and prepare the food on your table.
People like us educate your children and grandchildren.
People like us figure out what combination of biologicals or chemicals is best suited to keep Multiple Sclerosis in check.
People like us build car elevators.
People like us manufacture dog crates.
People like us take trash and hide it in dumps so you don’t have to look at it.
People like us bring casseroles to grieving families.
People like us watch out for our neighbors’ kids.
People like us care about everyone—not just people like us.
And that’s why people like us vote for Obama.
Because he is people like us.
