I grew up in Michigan in the mini-ice age of the 70's. It was really cold there. I live in Dubai with my Vietnamese wife now. She has never seen snow, and she thinks it is cold when the temperature drops below below 24C which is 75 for you and me. I can't explain to her what 20 below zero Fahrenheit feels like. She cannot internalize how that kind of cold goes right down to your bones and causes pain. You have to live it to understand it.
I think the same is true of Lord Fontelroi Wigglesworth Mittens Romney. People can talk to him about their worries about falling into poverty, but he has never lived it, and he never will. He does not understand that losing a job with no unemployment might mean becoming homeless or not being able to buy medicine that is vital for survival.
His advice to go to school even if you have borrow money from your parents proves that disconnect. Not all wealthy people lack the empathy gene, but Romney clearly does.
