"That this is a guy that is, doesn't, obviously need to do this for a job..."
That. That right there. That little quote captures the condescension and false, yet still extremely arrogant and self serving, sense of noblesse oblige that is so off putting. What she meant was
You people are so infuriating, Why don't you people like us???!!?! Mitt and I aren't doing this for the pittance of a salary you people are offering. We are offering to help you people out the goodness of our hearts. WHY DON'T YOU PEOPLE LIKE US????!?!!?!?
You people really should be ashamed for not appreciating what we are offering to do for you. Now bring me my dinner and be quick about it.
The gopers can't get enough of slagging on moochers who greedily gobble up entitlements like the right to decent pay and living conditions and not being abandoned by for profit health insurance companies and the like. They are immune to the contradiction of this narrative with their own voluminous appetite for entitlements paid for by the blood, tears, and taxes of the rest of us, but the mask is slipping further and further off.
The sense of entitlement the Romneys project, in the sense that they are visibly infuriated that they actually have to lower themselves to campaigning and requesting that we plebes vote for him, is obvious and toxic. Normally, when they interact with common people, the commoners are obsequious and eager to please. Whether it's employees at Bain or the household staff, those people know their place and that both Mitt and Anne would delight in firing their asses if the step one iota out of line.
They can't fathom that we common people could in reality feel anything less than love and adoration for the clearly superior Romneys. You can see the furious anger in their eyes, their expression, and their body language just as you can hear it in their voices.
You people really should be ashamed for not appreciating us. Now where's my goddamned dinner!??!?! Oh, screw it. YOU'RE FIRED!!!!!
