NOTE: Eclectablog also has this video up in his own Rec'ced diary, but he forgot to include some VERY important additional information...see below the Doily from Hell for that)
HOLY SMOKES. This is AWESOMESAUCE!!! Trust me, you're in for a treat:
(I've added an explanation below for those without video, but if you can watch it, make sure to do so before reading the spoilers)
The short version: Bridget Mary McCormack, a law professor at U of M, is running for the Michigan State Supreme Court. She also just happens to be the sister of Mary McCormack, who just happened to play Deputy NSA Kate Harper on The West Wing for several seasons.
Well, Prof. McCormack's sister decided to help her campaign out in a big way...by arranging for a West Wing Reunion campaign ad that not only endorses Prof. McCormack, but also pushes hard for voters to remember to vote the non-partisan portion of the ballot in general.
She managed to get various members of the West Wing cast back together--I won't spoil it further by revealing who shows up; you'll just have to watch it when you can.
---
It's also extremely important that Michigan voters elect not just McCormack, but the other two State Supreme Court candidates she's running with as a slate:
--46th District Court Judge Shelia Johnson
--3rd Circuit Court Judge Connie Kelley
--and, of course, University of Michigan Law School Professor Bridget Mary McCormack
The three are running to bring some sanity to the currently ultra-right wing, ultra-corporatist Michigan Supreme Court, which suffered a terrible blow in 2010 (like the rest of the state) when it added 2 wingnuts to the bench.
The MDP has even come up with a very cute slogan to get people to remember to vote for these three:
BEFORE YOU GIVE YOUR BALLOT BACK,
VOTE KELLEY, JOHNSON, MCCORMACK!
