I haven't seen the full debate between Elizabeth Warren and Scott Brown, but based on several post debate reviews it's clear Scott Brown is still caught up in the color or ones skin and not just the content of ones character. Actually, it could be said, he was trying to make the content of her character about the color of her skin. What Brown succeeded in doing was highlighting his own ignorance and biases. Scot Brown showed he has a movie/television perception of what a Native American should look. Somewhere today it was pointed out that many of the Native American descendants of the eastern tribes inter-married with Europeans therefore passing on as many European traits as Native American traits.
Speaking as a full-blooded European/American Mutt, I have Scot, Irish, Welsh and Italian heritage. If you look at me, you'll not see a sign of the Italian, but if you look at my siblings, you'll see the olive complexion and dark hair in three of the four. The same could be said of my father's siblings (my Aunts and Uncles). So who can say from the hue of ones skin, what their heritage may be?
Assholery has no skin color, but is definitely content of character issue. Scott Brown and many on the right make it pretty tough not to attribute ones political affiliation also a matter of ones character. The GOP for at least the last 30 years has shown itself to be the party of intolerant, bigoted, misogynistic, authoritarian assholes. It hard not to make snap judgement of someones character when you know they're a Republican. You're just waiting to see which character flaw and/or how many of those character flaws will manifest themselves in the person you just met. Occasionally I'm surprised, but more and more those are few and far between.
My friends make up a rainbow of heritages, I would have it no other way.
On with the games!!
Mojo Friday Guidelines
1) If you comment you have to recommend all comments. (in order to receive mojo you have to give mojo. It's only good mojo manners.)
2) Everything you say may be taken as a joke (so if you ask a question, expect a silly answer)
3) You must recommend the diary (and pimp it unapologetically)
4) You don't have to comment to recommend.
5) You can't steal my idea (right, like that ain't goin' to happen)
6) Please, no pictures or YouTubes until after 300 comments. Now, after 100, use a little common courtesy and be responsible in the number.
7) Mojo mojo mojo mojo, mojo mojo mojo.
8) TexDem (that's me) is not bound by the guidelines. Heh
