Florida Congressman Mike Horner ended his reelection bid late Monday and effectively resigned from his position amid some nasty prostitution rumors. His name surfaced on a client list, while police were investigating the accused prostitution ring leader. There are also rumors that this prostitution ring catered to gay clients…
Horner hasn’t been charged with a crime, but being a married Republican running for office, this little revelation is probably more damaging to him personally than actually being formally charged with a crime.
He came out with a statement, published in the Miami New Times, that reads:
I deeply regret decisions I made that are causing my family unjustifiable pain and embarrassment. While current press accounts from this morning are erroneous, my family still deserves better from me, as do all my friends, supporters and constituents. So today, I am announcing I will no longer seek reelection to the Florida House.
I've had no greater honor than serving the people of Florida, but I have no greater priority than doing the right thing for my family. I pray to have the chance to earn back their trust and respect during the remainder of my life.
With Horner out of the race, the GOP has 5 days to find a replacement for Horner on the ballot or allow his opponent, Eileen Game, to win the district uncontested.
Is anyone here surprised that yet another member of the GOP resigns in disgrace, amid gay sex/prostitution rumors? Not that there is anything wrong with being gay, not at all, but for members of a certain political party, who are notorious anti-gay, why is that so many of their members have had gay sex “scandals”? Perhaps thou doth protest too much?
