National polls currently show Obama leading Romney by an average of 48.5% to 43.2%. But Republicans are right to criticize these polls. When you look at the numbers, you see an unbalanced representation. It turns out that a majority of the people in these polls are Obama supporters. To be specific, 48.5% of them are supporting the president, and only 43.2% are supporting Romney. So of course if you ask more Obama supporters than Romney supporters, you're going to get results that favor Obama! When you correct for this bias, and poll both Obama and Romney supporters equally, you see that the race is tied, dead even at 50/50%.
