The Daily Bucket is a place where we post and exchange our observations about what is happening in the natural world in our neighborhood. Birds, blooms, bugs & more - each note is a record that we can refer to in the future as we try to understand the patterns that are quietly unwinding around us.
September 2012
This is the history of Tropical Storm Nadine starting way back on Tuesday 9-11-2012 with advisory #1 when it was called Depression #14. A typical storm off the coast of Africa that already had taken a few days to build up from a depression and gain circulation.
The 5 day tracking shows it be following the usual pattern of intensifying and moving north before turning up into the North Atlantic - just like where a lot of storms go to die.
Follow along below the orange hurricane and see what this storm actuallly did - or I should say - is doing.....
Nadine, honey is that you?
Oh, Nadine. Honey, is that you?
Seems like every time I catch you, datcha you're up to something new
The next day, advisory 6, the storm is predicted to intensify and move east.
Yeah I say, Florida is safe from this one.
Thursday advisory 10 - moves north and dies off.
Friday advisory 12 - well maybe it stays stronger for awhile
Nadine
She move around like a wave of summer breeze,
go, driver, go, go, catch her balmy breeze.
late on Friday advisory 15 - It's a hurricane now, like predicted originally on advisory 1 but not as far north!
Saturday advisory 19 - look at that, there's a chance it may turn west next week
Around And Around
They say the joint was rockin'
a goin' 'round and round
Yeah reelin' and a rockin' what a crazy sound
Well they never stopped rockin' till the moon went down
Sunday advisory 21 - nope, tracking has it heading east.
Nadine
I saw her from the corner when she turned and doubled back
Nadine, honey is that you?
.....
Monday advisory 26 - predicted to turn south and lose intensity fast
Jamaica Farewell Song
But I'm sad to say, I'm on my way,
Won't be back for many a day,
My heart is down, my head is turning around,
I miss all my friends in Kingston town.
Tuesday advisory 31 - it's been a week now
Wednesday advisory 33 - the post-tropical storm will be going home to Africa.
No Havana Moon for this storm
Thursday advisory 37 - or it dies off in the Atlantic
Friday advisory 41 - or it just sputters around..... Too Pooped To Pop
Saturday 9-24-2012 - no advisory posted, nothing more expected I guess
No Particular Place To Go
But what's this?????
Sunday advisory 44 - It reformed and may build up to a hurricane and move west. Wow!
Go go go Johnny go
Go Johnny B. Goode
Monday advisory 48 - or maybe it moves north, but it did get bigger with winds up to 50 MPH
Tuesday advisory 54 - 2 weeks later, not a lot of movement expected.
Wednesday advisory 56 - still here
Drifting Blues
Well, I'm driftin' and driftin' like a ship out on the sea
Today advisory 63 - finally a turn to the northeast and maybe, just maybe, it dies off this time around.
