Now that Mr. Akin is in this for the long haul (the next 38 news cycles), the time has arrived to state that which has smoldered in me since he became nationally famous. This diary's purpose is to eviscerate the GOP Sales Technique of "Pro-Life and Pro-Children by the Grace of God."
WARNING: This post will combine disparate topics of rape and race in a way that is disconcerting to most (even me), yet fully based in reality. It will touch on funding for child services programs, the pro-life movement, and our favorite topic, elephants.
Are all these things tied together? You betcha, Sarah Sue. Go get a bucket of water from the well, we're about to have us a youngun.
In order to achieve coherent blogging that leads to a finale whereby you jump up and smack the person nearest you, I will use an outlined approach.

I The middle-aged white male's rape subject matter expertise
Why do white men claim to know so much about rape? This was creepy years ago. Now, I am beginning to wonder if it is firsthand. I can think of no other reason for males to act credibly knowledgeable about rape unless you have a lack of credibility in general. One needs to seem credible on a handful of things to create the aura. You don't see black men espousing their intimate knowledge of rape. I have yet to hear a Latino give a lecture. Isn't it time for you middle-aged and older white men to stop feeling the need to be rape witnesses via your abortion positions? Imagine the alternate universe where child-bearing roles are reversed. Could you imagine the levels of domestic terrorism if a government tried to tell the male psyche it is not in control of its own body?
II The mask of religious reasoning behind pro-lifers including Mr. Akin
God is adamantly pro-life, yet the scriptual basis is indirect. Wouldn't one of the 66 to 73 books be an abortion text if it was as big a deal as you claim? When is the last time you had coffee with God? Did God say these words to you in person? If I walked into a police station and said, "God told me at breakfast that I should support the sanctity of life," I would promptly be escorted to Shelby County jail pursuant to TN § 33-6-401. This is a ruse with a proof section (IV) coming to back me up. God may more likely be telling you how to manipulate.
III How do elephants treat their young?
After a twenty-two month gestation where Mom needs no help from the herd, a bouncing 250lb baby elephant is born. Adults and the young alike are eager to caress the newborn, much like humans. A system of care is established within the herd for the newborn. Most adults are engaged to provide care for calves of other parents while they are feeding. A network of allomothers (I love this term) begins to keep minute-to-minute eyes on the calf. In other words, the real work for caring for a child begins after delivery, not before.
(For added fun, go check out how often the Republican mascot gets it on with another elephant of the same sex.)
IV The PROOF
- Child healthcare funding and Modern Republicanism
Not even beginning to track every vote to cut funding for SCHIP and child services since the Reagan glory years, the Ryan budget is particularly telling. Through a combination of repeal of ACA and the block grant of Medicaid funding, modern Republicans are on the record having voted for what effectively is a 34% reduction in Medicaid. In FY2009, there were 30.7 million children on Medicaid of the total 62.6 million. Removing the aged in nursing homes and disabled from the Medicaid rolls is problematic. The remaining adults and children are easier targets. Best case scenario if state governments are able to control expenditures per enrollee to maximize the number of Ryan budget enrollees, then anywhere from 10.4 to 13.9 million children will lose access to healthcare. The torchbearer of this plan is torching children after they are born, but God forbid you abort them beforehand.
- Race and rape in America
This is the most damning of all. I have yet to find someone with the hutzpah to say the following. What happens to your abortion position when a blonde, blue-eyed white daughter is raped and impregnated by a black man? or a Latino? Are you telling America that you would force your daughter or your wife of child-bearing age to bear a child conceived by a man of color via rape? Once the child is born, some paternity laws allow the rapist to have parental rights. Look who's coming to dinner...
I can tell you that no matter what you say in public, the reality is absolutely not. You are a boldfaced liar if you say so. How embarrassing would it be as a Tea Party candidate with rape expertise to have to explain a mixed race baby grandson at every campaign stop? Do you know how tough it's going to be to hide that kid? That might be more embarrassing to you than having a mixed-race President.
This is terribly jarring to even pose as a point of discussion, but race in humanity changes the parameters sometimes even when it should not. I daresay when high school aged daughters in white families have gotten pregnant with a baby of color perchance a fictitious rape might have been used as a rationalization for abortion. The opposite is perfectly plausible as well. I am calling out white America while also being a part of it. Suddenly, carrying every conception to term is not that important. Maybe even God might need to rethink this, huh?
V Takeaways
- If abortion was abhorrent in every instance even in the rape case of color, then your position would be more than voter manipulation.
- If your abortion position were ever to become law, it would only affect those without the means to fly abroad leaving them forced to seek an unsafe procedure in a warehouse. Your strata of society would still have safe access which is why it is not a risk to your world.
- If you had a track record of staunch child advocacy through increased funding for child services and healthcare, then I might believe your 'Pro-Life I care about all children' routine. Not just yours or the unborn...
- Those in Congress that have stood with children in poverty and care about kids in life are the real Pro-Life Movement.
- Since you waste no chance to marginalize the welfare of children after delivery and scenarios do exist where abortion is silently palatable, you are hereby renamed The Partial Pro-Birth Movement.
My apologies to anyone reading this diary that felt a statement to be offensive. I intend no slight to anyone, except those claiming to be the white knights of freedom while riding a horse of silent bigotry. I said it, I'm done. I picked the wrong year to quit drinking.
