Not a lot of time for butterfly observations last week. Still, the usual suspects are still around. I wasn't able to get any photo's this week so all the photos in this week's diary are from my archives. All were taken this year and in my yard. The Tawny-edged Skipper(Polites themistocles) continues to frustrate me as it is only an occasional visitor and I have yet to get a good photo.
Monarchs are becoming less common, but I still see them around whenever I have a chance to make observations during the day. I've yet to see a Cloudless Sulphur(Phoebis sennae) in my yard this Fall, which is disappointing as I've seen plenty of them around. Still a few Mourning Cloaks(Nymphalis antiopa, pictured left) though they never seem to stop for anything.
Those are my butterfly observations for the week. What are you seeing in your area?
