Check out Alternet.com 's new article about supposed "October Surprise" from Romney Campaign. Evidently they're very excited about it, and may pivot from "It's The Piss-Poor Economy" to "Obama's Piss-Poor National Security Record."

We've seen the attempts to equate Pres Obama with Pres Carter as a weakling when it comes to National Security and Foreign Policy....but now they think they have the smoking gun. From Alternet regarding the Libyan attack and death of Ambassador Stevens on Sept 11:
{{The source described the Republicans as chortling with glee that the Obama administration “definitely had intel” about the attack before it happened. “Intelligence can be graded in different ways,” he added, “and sometimes A and B don’t get connected. But [the Romney campaign] will try to paint it to look like Obama had advance knowledge of the attack and is weak on terrorism.}}
and:
{{He said they were jubilant about their new strategy and said they intended to portray Obama as a helpless, Jimmy Carter-like president and to equate the tragedy in Libya with President Carter’s failed attempt to rescue American hostages in Iran in 1980. “They are so excited about it,” he said. “Over and over again they talked about how it would be just like Jimmy Carter’s failed raid. They feel it is going to give them a last-minute landslide in the election.}}
If it is true that they will try the "Obama is weak on Terrorism" strategy, what better time to spring the info that the administration had advance knowledge of the attack, than in the debate?
The article goes on to say that Karl Rove and Rudy Guiliani have been laying the groundwork on Fox News and in interviews, by saying that Obama has been bragging about killing bin Laden and defeating Al Qaeda, but is in fact, so inept that he couldn't prevent the attack on our embassy in Libya and had advance knowledge of the attack...then tried to cover up that fact.
{{Giuliani added that the Obama White House wanted to dismiss the role played by al-Qaida because it seemed to diminish the triumph of having killed Osama bin Laden. “I think it’s because they have this narrative that they defeated al-Qaida,” he said.}}
Which makes one wonder if David Gregory either knowingly or unwittingly had a part in the narrative. As we now know he falsely claimed that Pres Obama said "Al Qaeda has been defeated," which is totally false. As yet he has not admitted that his assertion was wrong.

It doesn't seem much of an October Surprise to me, but I am not a foreign policy type person anyway. And using the narrative, "Obama is weak and incompetent on terrorism as proved by fact he had advance knowledge of attack on Libyan embassy, did nothing about it, then tried to cover up fact of advance knowledge" (pardon run-on) is going to result in a landslide for Romney? Kinda reeks of desperation to me. Anyway, watch for Romney to try to stun Obama with this accusation during the debate Wed night...if Alternet is right.
