I watched the debate and spent most of it yelling at the tv.
I gnashed my teeth at Romney's lies and failure to provide details.
I agonized over what I perceived as President Obama's failure to respond and
put the hammer down on Romney...

Nothing Romney said changed my mind in any way.  I will still work to see that the President gets re-elected, I will still make calls and talk to everyone who will listen about my Pressident and why he's the ONLY choice for me and all thinking women.

He still gets my vote and my confidence that his policies are the right way to go.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

I thought Chris Matthews was going to stroke out and the way they were all yelling at each other was so unprofessional.  I get that they are pissed, but Matthews telling him to watch hardball to learn how to debate was the last straw for me.

You're a cable news anchor, Chris, he's the President of the United States.  It was out of line and ridiculous.

It does matter. Because a majority of people. One on gut, not information. They don't double check, they just accet whys presented. So there will be people voting for Romney be ause that debate will be the extent to which they research.

I am already in the Obama camp, but Romney made me extremely uncomfortable last night, not only with his blatant rope a dope lies, but with his almost manic behavior. He acted like he was on uppers.

The President has to keep reminding himself next time to raise his chin. Looking down makes him look sad. Otherwise, he performed the way he always does in a debate. He is not and never has been confrontational

    •  He was looking down at Lehrer (0+ / 0-)

The placement of the moderator was poor, forcing Obama to look down to address him.  Romney didn't bother looking at Lehrer.  I also think Lehrer's position is part of why he lost control of the debate.

on stage alone...LOL.  His mental state is so bizarre that it's difficult to ascertain if he was on uppers because the concept of losing is inconsistent with his egocentric view of himself.....or if they took him off his psychotropic drugs for bipolar disorder to 'unleash' the Real Romney.

Either way, when we review his persona/affect and his inability to control himself and listen to the rules, it's clear that Romney was totally out of control.

The content of what he was saying was lost on his presentation because people were totally stunned to see him so out of control.  But the content will come back to haunt him  as his "ultimate Etch-A-Sketch moment".

This will be utilized against him in subsequent debates.  Once his deranged base realizes that he abandoned the entire GOP platform, they will join the ranks of those realizing that Mitt Romney is an unstable man.

  •  The only consolation for me was this (0+ / 0-)

I watched the debate, and got frustrated like many here...but somewhere around the 50 minute mark I said to myself...this debate is mind numbingly dull, and really isn't shining a light on either mans' position.  It was a debate that, due to the lack of moderation, and the constant interruptions, probably made a lot of people who tuned in but who aren't political junkies, probably made their eyes glaze over and their minds shut down.

Having said that...if people tuned the words out, all that leaves is the optics and the body language.  And Romney was clearly the hungriest candidate on the stage.  Obama, I hate to say, almost came off as an undecided voter himself...a man unsure of just how desirous he was of a second term to lead this country.

    That impression matters.

  •  This isn't a football game... (6+ / 0-)

MSNBC's initial response was absurd. Romney lied, bullied and looked anything but Presidential. Obama stayed calm and laid out the facts of what he was up against when he got into office and what he has accomplished. It's in the media's best financial interest to make the race seem tight. Romney could have given the finger to the camera and the "pundits" would have said he kicked ass. It's time for the media to stop treating serious issues like a fantasy football game.

    •  The MSM only cares about dollars (0+ / 0-)

and the powers that be in the "reichwing media" had determined Mitt to be the winner even before the first question was asked.

As Olberman tweeted:  It's all about the MSM making money (sorry, folks, they don't give a rat's pitoot about any of us - or - truth).  The polls were making it look like a landslide so they'd already determined that CNN would come out with a "bogus poll" immediately after the debate which then further skewed people's perception about Obama not acting like a dick and making a jackass out of himself like Romney did....

They want to make it a football game or a horse race but they are playing with ordinary people's lives and should be ashamed of themselves.

Candy Crowley, the 'right wing crone/hack" should be summarily removed from the next debate after what CNN did to pull the wool over everyone's eyes with their bogus "Snap Poll".

He came across as manic and overdone; obviously, he was on some sort of upper meds last night.  His motor mouth was the giveaway.  He really skeeved me out with his affect quite honestly.  His Etch-A-Sketch flipflop from the entire GOP platform was pretty amazing.  His lies will come back to haunt him and his motor mouth word salad will soon be viewed as being 'unstable' which, we already can confirm, him to be.

I believe that President Obama allowed Mr. Motor Mouth to finally hang himself with now having plenty of outright "lies" to solidify the fact that the man cannot be trusted and will say anything to get elected.  '

The only reason this nitwit is running for President is for the pure ego trip of it all - he's a mad, power-hungry maniac and this personality defect came through last night loud and clear.

He's nothing more than a filthy rich caricature of the stereotypical "used Car salesman".  He made my head hurt to just listen to his manic screed.

going on' in our President's life/day which may have overshadowed this debate for him.  After all, TwittMitt only has his ambition to be president to think about; President Obama is running this country which is a huge, complex task at this point.

Ann Romney couldn't have state it more succinctly:  "We have to be concerned about Mitt's mental health".

Last night every shrink in this country knew precisely what Ann was talking about.

The man is a manic/depressive and we got to see his manic (unmedicated) side front and center.  He couldn't stop his mouth if he wanted to which tells the tale.

What did he actually say that was anything new erupting from a spineless, coreless man with only his flagrant ambition for power to state?  Absolutely zilch!

No facts (hell, they've disregarded fact checkers all along) and blatant lying in our face....nothing new to see here.

There is no longer any doubt about the fact that MITT ROMNEY 'IS' THE QUINTESSENTIAL BULLY.  It's the one thing he's pretty accomplished at being.

Joe Klein said Obama had the worse debate of any incumbent president in his lifetime. Halperin compared Romney to Reagan saying it was the greatest debate performance since Reagan by a republican.
The media so wants a dead heat! Sure Obama sucked but he made no mistakes just let Romney lie his ass off.
Also the ratings were very good, I am guessing including cable over 50 million people watched.
