What I would say if I was Obama:
*
"If you judge a debate on who lied the most, the yes Romney won last night.
But the American people didn't win last night.
If you judge a debate on who actually was honest with the American people and provided specifics on what one would do as President... then the answer is straightforward.
For the last 18 months, Romney has said that he's going to cut taxes across the board 20% causing 5 trillion in cuts. Last night he said, "Nevermind".
He claims he's going to magically cut taxes for everyone and the deficit at the same time.
His plan is so good he won't even share it with us.
It reminds me of what my opponent Senator John McCain said in 2008... that only he knew how to kill Bin Laden... that it was a secret plan. A secret plan that he wouldn't tell us.
Well guess what... we got Bin Laden. It wasn't a secret. I did exactly what I said that I would do.
With health care. Romney says that his plan would cover pre-existing conditions. It doesn't.
He says that everyone should do what he did in Massachusetts. Well guess what.. We did. And it's called Obamacare.
Last night Romney was asked if he was going to voucherize Medicare. He didn't deny it.
Let me repeat that. He didn't deny it.
Romney has nothing but lies. I will always be honest with the American people."
Or something like that.
I think the long term affects of this will turn out ok.
Yes he should have pushed back harder last night. Yes Obama shouldn't have let Lehr give Romney the last word all of the time.
But Romney lied... and that will come back to haunt him.
