Do donuts go bad if you don't use them immediately?
There was a diary this morning that weighed in on the president's debate performance, and the resulting shifts in polling, and called out for a clear eyed perception of how the political landscape may have changed, and what's to be done about it. At the end of the diary was this request:
Umm, but by the way, if anyone has a good broccoli-chedder soup recipe, I'd be quite receptive to that. Thanks!
I read the diary, and agreed mostly with what the diarist had to say. There wasn't much more I could add to the discussion, but I did have a recipe for the broccoli-cheddar soup he was craving. So I posted it.
And I was promptly HR'd for doing so. What the fuck is that all about?
Not only did I get HR'd, but another member here that I have always had nothing but respect for actually uprated the donut. I guess the only thing better than free jazz at high noon is completely unwarranted donuts in the morning.
Have we come to this? You know what...it's not even like I haven't ever gotten some donuts before...I have. Usually they are deserved, or at the very least not a surprise.
But providing a recipe to someone who requests it? Was the recipe vile? I looked at it a second time to see if, perhaps, it called for kitten broth, or sauteeing the onions in dolphin blubber. Nope.
I want to thank Commonmass, Elmo and Anafreeka for coming to my defense. The guy who dropped the HR bomb on me never came back and responded. The day was, no doubt, young, and there were donuts that needed to be used before they got stale.
It amazes me, sometimes, what gets under people's skins here.
