Orange Squiggle of Down-Ticket Power
EDR compiles, describes and links election related diaries for down-ticket races through the closing months of election seasons. Down-ticket means any non-Presidential race.
This group was formed by the producers of a front page diary series that rescued election related diaries in 2006, 2008 and 2010. 2012 marks the first election since Daily Kos was born that there is blog devoted to election coverage - Daily Kos Elections.
Election Diary Rescue is proud to be a part of this project.
EDR chronicles the passion, power and effectiveness of political engagement and shines a light on candidates and issues that might be missed during an action-packed election cycle. It gives quick access to races, hopefully inspires people to write about contests that interest them, and has become an archive for thousands of election related diaries over the years.
The Diary List for this project, founded by sidinny, links all the rescued diaries since 2006.
Format, Tag, Schedule
Diarists can help the EDR mining team by identifying the race in the diary title, for example: (FL-14) or (GA-Gov) or (NY-Sen). Using the "Elections" tag is also helpful. New this year, you can write your first sentence or two as the synopsis you would like to see in the EDR description.
EDR's schedule for mining diaries is noon to noon. Our publishing schedule is in the evening. That means for example if you post your diary at 12:00 pm (noon) on Wednesday, we will include it in the EDR list in Thursday evening's post. If you publish your diary at 11:59 am on Thursday, it will be in the diary collection for Thursday evening as well.

State:

This, in addition to a book by Arkansas State Representative Jon Hubbard which called slavery a "blessing in disguise" for African Americans, has thrown the state GOP into a bit of disarray.
[Maricopa County-Sheriff] Arizona Republic Newspaper Endorses Penzone over Sheriff Joe! by Ian S - On the heels of a series of articles detailing the abuses of Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, the Arizona Republic endorses his opponent, Democrat Paul Penzone.
Various:
[CA-Var] Brian Bilbray and Carl DeMaio: San Diego’s Republican Shapeshifters by withthelidoff - If there’s one thing that’s been particularly consistent to campaigns of the far right in San Diego this fall, it’s the unusually desperate attempts to hide the real agenda from voters. It’s an almost impressive self-awareness from the top of the GOP that the party’s agenda has drifted well outside the mainstream.
[Var-Polling] Daily Kos Elections Polling Wrap: Did Obama weather the 'first debate' storm? by Steve Singiser - Over the weekend, the question on the minds of the community of political junkies was a simple one: had Mitt Romney's clear victory in the first debate, in the eyes of a majority of voters, actually translated into votes? In other words, could the debate have enough of an impact to recenter the race for the White House?
[Var] StephenCLE's Election Ratings - Oct 8 by StephenCLE - Diarist offers his overview of standings in the states for POTUS as well as various competitive Senate and House races. With projections.

[CA-Prop 32] Prop. 32 campaign having trouble with the facts by cidelson - Prop. 32 is the November ballot measure pushed by the rightwing cabal that was behind two previous losing California initiatives to eliminate the influence of unions and working people in state politics. Now, after the awful, game-changing, supposedly permanent large shift of the public suddenly hungering for GOP leadership after last week's debate, Democrats lead by 1 point. It swung TOWARD us by FIVE points on what was perhaps the worst week for Democrats since the debt ceiling crisis.
Why Nevada WILL Remain a Blue State This Fall by atdnext - We now have a better sense of what the final voter registration totals will be.
