For those of you who are paying attention to Rep. Darrell Issa, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman, you obviously know he's the infamous one behind the major grueling hearings on the Fast & Furious fiasco where U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder was ripped a new one for reasons not of his doing. And of course, Issa did not allow honorable Sandra Fluke to testify, nor any woman to testify on the panel. What a great American we have in our Congress!
I want to make this clear right now: Enough of the anti-Darrell Issa diaries! If you are looking to channel your frustrations into productive use, you might as well donate to and support Democratic candidate running in California's 49th Congressional District, Jerry Tetalman. What better way to show your anger than to elect someone in Congress who is a breath of fresh air, someone the complete opposite of Darrell Issa.

Here's a biography of Jerry Tetalman per his campaign website:
Jerry first became politically active as a high school student in Cleveland, Ohio, when he participated in the protest movement to end the Vietnam War. Even after being assaulted by fellow students, he continued undeterred. After graduating from Ohio State University with a B.S. in Nursing, Jerry moved to San Diego and earned a master’s degree in Psychology from the University for Humanistic Studies in 1982. He became the nursing director of a 25-bed mental health unit in San Diego and later worked in the Emergency Room at Tri-City Hospital.
In 1989, Jerry and his wife Kathy (also a nurse) made a career change to become real estate agents and investors. A top-producing agent who won many sales awards, Jerry also bought and improved properties using a team approach that gave employment to many people. In 2004, the Tetalmans started their own real estate and property management company.
In 2002, appalled by the lead-up to George W. Bush’s invasion of Iraq, Jerry became more politically active. He participated in the anti-war protests around the country and attended the World Federalist Movement’s international meeting in Copenhagen. After extensive research on the topic of war and peace, he joined peace activist Byron Belitso to write and publish One World Democracy: A Progressive Vision for Enforceable Global Law, which won the San Diego Book Award as the best political science book of 2005. In promoting the book and its ideas, Jerry appeared on TV and radio talk shows. He became president of San Diego Citizens for Global Solutions and California Citizens for Global Solutions. http://globalsolutions.org/
Jerry is a graduate of Peak Potentials Training, an extensive program of entrepreneurial skills, leadership and self-development. He volunteers with the organization, helping people to overcome fear and succeed in business and life. Jerry also has been a member and officer in Toastmaster International. Jerry and Kathy Tetalman have lived in North County since
1988.
I don't want to get into too much detail about Jerry Tetalman because I've already posted enough diaries about him and I plan on citing links to them so you can get more information. I will point out new bits of information I've already been discovering about Tetalman's campaign that none on Daily Kos are reporting:
Recently I have been corresponding with Jerry Tetalman's campaign manager, Charles Dodson, about the state of the campaign. As it turns out, Jerry Tetalman has gotten positive vibes from my pro-Tetalman diaries (this is coming from the campaign manager, not me) which have translated into increased support and feedback for the campaign. That's why Mr. Dodson contacted me.
Here are some facts as to what's happening in the Tetalman for Congress campaign:
1) Jerry Tetalman's campaign is getting loads of calls and comments due to coverage on Daily Kos (by only me of course). They are also getting donations all across the country via the Act Blue donation page.
2) The campaign has brought in a bigger finance team, as well as increased staff for field campaigning. There is also a media campaign going on, a well as outreach to the Hispanic/Latino community via radio.
3) Some of you have questioned whether or not the 49th Congressional District in California is winnable. Well, here's what Mr. Dodson has told me. Registration is currently at 43% Republican, 29% Democratic and 28% Decline to State (which can also be treated as being Independent). However, during the Democratic primaries in the 49th Congressional District, Tetalman polled at 33% in San Diego County whereas the even more progressive Dick Elden was at 7%. Obviously there's a reason why Tetalman is not just simply a progressive. The goal of the campaign is to of course beef up the Democratic base but also to reach out to Independents within the district. Also, I wouldn't doubt there are some Republicans out there who are really pissed with Rep. Darrell Issa's actions this year. Those Republicans would find Jerry Tetalman to be a very open and sincere politician if they got to know more about him (not just his progressive views), whereas Darrell Issa is, well, Darrell Issa.
As of right now, that's all the new information I can point out to you. I am however going to be interviewing Jerry Tetalman himself soon so I am really creating this diary as a means of allowing any of you to ask questions that I can ask to him. Don't just ask the regular questions! Ask the tough questions that no other Democrats seem willing to answer!
Anyway, don't let ANYONE tell you nothing can be done in California's 49th Congressional District. Seriously, if people on Daily Kos are promoting Jim Reed for Congress so he can win the seat in California's 1st Congressional District (one of the reddest regions in California), surely the same can be done for Jerry Tetalman as he's challenging Darrell Issa.

I mean, this is California. The 49th Congressional District is by the beaches! You don't want Republicans to take away your rights while you surf the waves or enjoy a nice cone of shaved ice!
Anyway, here's my original diary on Jerry Tetalman:

2:46 PM PT: By the way, if you're planning to campaign for Jerry Tetalman anywhere in California's 49th Congressional District, keep in mind you have some time to register voters although not enough. The voter registration deadline in California is October 22nd. Time to get to work!
