When (not if), Romney brings up the Benghazi Libya accusation, here's a proposed response:
The Friday before the 2004 Election, Osama bin Laden broadcast a video around the world. Both John Kerry and George W. Bush chose not to politicize that event, making non-partisan statements without accusations against either side.
Mr. Romney's campaign is not living up to that standard. From the moment that the tragic killings at Benghazi happened, his campaign has tried to capitalize on it. In doing so, it has violated the unstated principle that both President Bush and John Kerry understood. Instead, it has made accusations before facts were in, getting sequences of events wrong, and now is continuing to attempt to take advantage of the tragedy for political gain.
Indeed, the father of the slain Ambassador has urged that the matter be kept out of politics. I urge the Romney campaign to heed that advice.
