The US Navy is the best in the world. It was Navy SEALs who got Osama bin Laden. Our Navy has more tonnage than the rest of the world put together. They do their job and they do it well. They don't need more ships because the hard-working sailors have the skills and strengths—as well as the tools—to control and secure the seas with less.
From Athens to Rome to Spain to Britain, the major naval power has always been THE major power. But in each of the instances I listed, it was advances in technology, not just raw numbers, that made it possible. The British were the first to figure out how to reliably calculate longitude (using clocks), for example.
Our Navy relies on the best technology in the world to do more with less. And just imagine if Ryan was a Democrat—his claims about "battleships" would be proof he doesn't know about the military, since we don't have any battleships anymore.
It's not the 80s calling wanting their foreign policy back, it's the nineteen-oughts calling, wanting their naval strategy back. Hey, I guess with enough picket ships we could just walk from New York to England, right?
What a fool. What an idiot. Shame on you Congressman Ryan. Apologize to the sailors who serve our country, right now.
