Here is a quick look at the Puerto Rican general elections campaign and the political TV ads for each party that are being shown on prime time. General elections will be held on November 6 (Puerto Ricans elect their head of government, senate (27 seats) and house of representatives or legislative assembly (51 seats), 78 mayoral races and their municipal assemblies and a Comisionado Residente (Resident Commissioner).

The 6 parties that will take part in the general elections are:
Partido Nuevo Progresista (PNP - New Progressive Party)
Partido Popular Democrático (PPD - Popular Democratic Party)
Partido Independentista Puertorriqueño (PIP - Puerto Rican Independence Party)
Movimiento Unión Soberanista (MUS - United Pro Sovereignty Movement)
Partido del Pueblo Trabajador (PPT - People's Workers Party)
Puertorriqueños Por Puerto Rico (PPR - Puerto Ricans for Puerto Rico Party)
In the puerto rican political spectrum the PNP is on the right side, the PPD on the center or center-left (depends who leads the party) and the MUS, PIP, PPR and PPT are from center-left to left.
The first debate between the 6 candidates was televised last month, the last debate will be shown tomorrow.
The TV ads
PNP: This ad talks about the past PPD administration and the main theme is that Puerto Rico can't afford to go back to the past and needs to keep moving forward with the present pro US statehood administration lead by Fortuño.
PPD: This ad is their newest one, the name of this ad is ''Let's Rescue Puerto Rico'' , Alejandro Garcia Padilla talks about how Puerto Rico is facing its worst moment in history, he calls it a disaster.
MUS: This ad talks about the benefits of becoming a sovereign nation and how puerto ricans cannot expect real changes if they keep voting for the same old parties.
PIP : This ad puts the spotlight on their candidate, a handsome and young lawyer who has the right qualities to lead the nation towards full independence.
PPT: This ad talks about how the average puerto rican works hard while those who are in power right now are having a big party.
PPR : This ad criticizes the traditional parties and how people need to look at new options.
