A newspaper in Montgomery, AL took the wildly unpopular stance of giving a strong endorsement of President Obama this morning:
And it is also fair to say, although his critics will never admit it, that much progress has been made in addressing those challenges and that recovery proceeds, albeit at a slower pace than the president and the rest of us would like to see. The profoundly mistaken military venture in Iraq that his predecessor began has been ended, and an end is in sight to the military effort in Afghanistan.
A president can’t do everything. Neither the human capacity nor the constitutional authority exists for that. But a president can – indeed must – exercise sound and decisive leadership when the very foundations of a nation’s economy are imperiled. President Obama did that and an economy that was spiraling downward stabilized and began to recover.

In 2008, the Advertiser endorsed Obama for president in the belief that he was a markedly superior candidate and much more likely than his opponent to effectively lead the country. That is again our view in 2012 and why we recommend his re-election on Nov. 6.
They
posted this endorsement to their Facebook page, and Alabama conservatives being Alabama conservatives chimed in with their usual dignity and grace:
Kathleen Franklin Avant For Mike, not necessarily gnashing our teeth, more like spending our money elsewhere for news. Endorsing someone who is without morals, honor, or integrity is nothing to brag about. I hope their endorsement hurts them where it counts--in their almighty pocketbook.

Sandra Vick Btw..the logic that if one president lies then it is OK for another one to do it too, is insane! The ignorance of someone to say that b/c they believe Bush lied and people died makes it OK for Obama is a slap in the face to all the brave men and women in Iraq and Benghazi! They were not stupid for following orders!
