So, the SF Giants swept the Detroit Tigers for the World Series. (Go Giants!)!
Will that depress the Detroit/Michigan voter turnout? If so, will it favor the Democrats, or the Republicans?
My wife and I (major Giant's fans) had already rationalized what we thought was the likely SF loss as a boost for Detroit voter turnout. California isn't contested, so that wouldn't matter in SF. Plus, with 5 major league teams, there is less identification with the "local" team here compared to states with few teams. So a win for Detroit might mean more votes for Obama, et al.
On the other hand, the lack of victory riots might promote regular folk to come-out to vote.
What do you all think?
