Mayor Michael Bloomberg's endorsement of President Obama had barely hit the airwaves when the Romney campaign quickly countered with an endorsement of their candidate which they'd been keeping under wraps, that of noted Philanthropist, C. Montgomery Burns:
The Burns endorsement had been coveted by the Romney campaign for months and was the product of closed-door meetings between Romney and Burns held at Burns' private residences. According to observers who declined to be identified, the two found themselves in agreement on virtually every subject including taxes, energy policy and "entitlement" programs such as Social Security and Medicare.
From the official campaign Press Release following the endorsement:
"We're thrilled to have the endorsement of a truly great American, a modern success story and role model for the nation's young people. Mr Burns exemplifies the values that this campaign has stood for from Day One."
