An update from this diary, which you might have seen on the rec list all last evening and some of this morning.
I arrived at the house in Alameda, CA a little before 9:00 AM, donuts in hand. A hearty crew was already there, but no moving trucks or sheriffs.
When I left a little before noon to come back and give this update (among other things) all was still well. We don't really know what is going on with Morgan Stanley but we think we gave them a good scare if nothing else. This may or may not have staved off the eviction, and if it did, we don't know for how long.
I just talked with the Occupy Oakland Foreclosure Defense Group point person for the house, and he says that Jodie is up and about (she had an exhausting day yesterday yelling at Morgan Stanley executives!) and sends a shout out to all her supporters!
We're still trying to ascertain who's really in charge of this property from Morgan Stanley's perspective so we can have someone to negotiate with.
The morning defense crew, sans me -- I was out making flyer copies!
Meanwhile, anyone local who wants to drop off some food, supplies (like paper plates), water bottles, or other stuff you might think is useful please feel encouraged to do so, or just drop by.
The address is 1624 Foley Avenue, Alameda, CA 94501.
Oh: And, obviously, neither I, nor anyone else, has been arrested yet.
