The United States of America
Dear Mr. Romney,
After months, years actually, of seeing and hearing you on the national political stage we regret to inform you that we found a far more qualified candidate for the job of President of the United States--Barack Obama.
Not to put too fine a point on it, but we hear that you like to fire people. We want you to understand, however, that you are not being fired; you were not even good enough to be hired. We sincerely hope you appreciate the irony, and for your future edification we further encourage you to take your now infinite free time to reflect on why you find yourself in this position.
We will try to offer you some insights. The rest is up to you.
American politics can be rough, but over time the American people have a real sense of fairness. An election or two might go against this, but eventually the American voter gets it right. We really have no idea what you really think, and this is part of our problem with you. You see, most of us, regardless of our political inclinations, have a pretty good idea of who Barack Hussein Obama is, and for starters, he's nowhere near a Marxist, or a socialist, nor was he born in Kenya. He's an American, and you could have helped what appears to be a significant number in your party get wise to this reality. But you didn't. You allowed ignorance to win. You kowtowed to Donald Trump in all his ridiculousness. That's not Presidential.
You used to be a pro-choice Republican. There used to be quite a few of you. If there are now, we don't see them. Regardless of your own personal beliefs, our Constitution mandates the separation of Church and State, and as Americans we really, really hate to be forced to live by someone else's beliefs. Abortion is a serious issue, and no woman or man takes it lightly. You should leave it at that. Instead, you and your party seem to want to return to an era where not only abortion was illegal, but in the most horrific circumstances like rape. It is extremely hard to understand this. We realize that you tried to make it seem as though your position was not so extreme, but your actions, like choosing Ryan as your VP choice, spoke far louder than any words. A clearly articulated principled stand on this issue would have been respected, but that is not what you have given us. That's not Presidential.
No one begrudges your wealth. Americans love a winner--we always will. However, if you want to be President for all of us, it goes back to simple fairness that we want to know a bit more about how above board you have been in your own financial dealings. This is not too much to ask, and your arrogance in this regard was really hard to take. Frankly, it matters how you made your money. What we do says we who are more that any narrative we may try to give publicly. You instead dodged the issue, and treated voters with contempt. That's not Presidential.
Lastly, in the run up to this election, your party engaged in quite a number of states in a coordinated attempt to disenfranchise voters like we have not seen since the Civil Rights struggles of the 1960s. Your silence on this issue spoke volumes. As an election strategy, hoping for low voter turnout means you have lost the argument. Don't try to obfuscate this issue with claims of potential voter fraud. Voter fraud is a chimera your party has been chasing for years now. It does not exist. You stood aside while all these efforts went on, and your silence meant consent. That's not Presidential.
In the end, the voters have spoken. You have a choice--truly learn from this and move on; subsequently help your party back to sanity OR you can double down on the crazy we have had to live through for the last four years. As Americans, we really hope that you and your party choose to came back into the rational, democracy-loving fold. The choice is yours.
Sincerely,
The American People (All Colors and Creeds)
