This is not snark. There really is something to congratulate Republicans about today. They ran a historic ticket, something that has never been seen in the US before from a major party.
For the first time in our history a major party ran a presidential ticket that did not include a single protestant.
Some many argue (I'm one of them * * ) that their pick for president isn't even a Christian. Many learned more about the Church of Later Day Saints then they ever knew before, including that while many of the same stories and prophets/saints as Christianity, it stands on it's own as it's own faith. Just like Judaism * , and Islam.
That's important.
That's historic.
And that knocks on, if not opens the door for the future.
Thanks to Republicans, American children raised in other faiths, can now see that they to have the chance to be President. . . just as children of color did in 2008.
This election, the GOP ticket, also made a major player in Republican politics and the Christian faith, Billy/Franklin Graham change their outlook and definition of what a "cult" is. In a small way, they moved to more inclusiveness. It bodes well for the non-Christians in this country. Though the Grahams' may quietly put it back on the list now.
These are all things to be celebrated and we should send the GOP our congratulations today for this/these accomplishments.
Yes, they might not have meant to do it. They may not have meant to front a ticket sans a Protestant. They may not have meant to give American Hindu children, American Zoroastrian children, American Scientologist children, etc. even American Muslim children hope that America will accept them as they are, and they won't have to take the Bobby Jindahl route. But they did.
They didn't mean to do it - their heads may be exploding as they realize this.
They may be waking up to what feels like a huge hang over after a long bender, only to discover that while drunk they'd bought 600 Beaded Mercury Glass Trees w/ Timer from QVC and married a $20 hooker.
You may say to yourself, my god, what have I done?
.
LOL
They didn't mean to do it
But they did
:-)
Congratulations Republicans!
Thank you!
LOL
* = yes I know Judaism pre-dates Christianity, but some Christians don't think anything came before Christ's birth.
* * = There is of course the Book of Mormon, and other things I read/researched that brought me to that conclusion. There were also these videos.
Actually I pointed out to a Romney supporter who thought he was a Christian, that she, as a Christian, probably had more in common Muslims (she thinks Obama is a Muslim) in many theologic beliefs, starting with the creation story than she has with Mormons.
I thinks I caused a synaptic storm in her head.
