our political side won big. it's a fact. we know it. and so do republicans (sans rove et-al).
but after the campaign it's time for governing, and mocking our political opposition and its supporters (who are almost 50% of voting people) is not productive.
our system depends on at least two functional political parties.
democrats are (arguably) functional. republicans are not.
we need our republican brothers and sisters.
i'm sure we all remember how shitty we felt in 2004 after we lost that one, and in 2010 when congress switched.
we should be, and are, the adults in this country. let's act like it.
let's not forget we dont have all the answers or all the questions.
im not talking about bending over and letting republicans do what they do best to democrats... im talking about doing our part, and more, to help unite our country.
- reminding all americans of our common goals, aspirations, and values.
- listening.
- being empathetic.
etc.
i just want the hate and negativity to be replaced by mutual respect and love.
yes, love. not in the sexual way, but in a patriotic and humanistic way. we are all the same race. the human race. people can have any political affiliation they want.
the key (and the struggle) is to work with others to improve our collective well-being.
for me, being a proggressive, liberal, lefty, person means that i more interested in how we improve the future, rather then romanticise about the past.
have we had enough schadenfreude?
