This is unbelievable:
Petraeus' biographer Paula Broadwell under FBI investigation over access to his email, law enforcement officials say
The biographer for resigning CIA Director David Petraeus is under FBI investigation for improperly trying to access his email and possibly gaining access to classified information, law enforcement officials told NBC News on Friday.
Paula Broadwell is the author of Petraeus' biography, "All In." She had extensive access to Petraeus in Afghanistan and has given numerous television interviews speaking about him.
The wingnuts are all insisting that Petraeus is not testifying about Benghazi as part of some cover up.
But with this news it is pretty obvious that the speculation first raised on TPM is valid:
1) There is a serious on-going investigation into possible security breaches;
2) Petraeus has had his security clearance yanked.
Given this, how could he could testify, even behind closed doors?
For the curious, link to Paula Broadwell picture page. She has what my friends would derisively call "her picture face" on in several of them, and sorry to be catty, but that black sleeveless number with the ruffles is a damned odd choice for wearing to a TV studio.
UPDATE: Her book title was "All In". I pass that along without comment.
UPDATE: If this report from FOX News is accurate, Petraeus probably came forward because the FBI outed him:
The relationship was revealed in the course of an FBI investigation. The FBI was investigating a much broader case and in the course of that investigation Broadwell’s name came up. The FBI followed that lead, and in doing so Petraeus’ name came up. The FBI for some reason was concerned that perhaps Petraeus was some sort of victim or that there may have been some sort of security breach, but there has been no evidence discovered to back up such concerns.
