I get tired of myself - sometimes I feel that all I do here is ask for money.  And that's since this last COLA made it possible for me to live with a little extra here or there.  But not enough for the unexpected.  And my life lately has been filled with the unexpected.

I few weeks ago I was in a car accident which damaged my beautiful car that I got from Kossack ImAFrayedKnot and her family - the story of that car was as important to me as was the car itself.  I managed to sell it to someone at the body shop for $800 which helped towards a new car, and I borrowed from Kossack allensl, who had offered to help last time around.

Then the water main to my house burst and flooded my front yard, which used a few hundred of the car money.  I spent long days traveling in my rental all over the county - and I mean all over! - looking at cars and stopping in places with wi-fi to check Craig's list periodically.

I found a car for less than I had to spend, a little red 1999 Chevy Prizm (aka Toyota Corolla) which has 134000 miles and a standard transmission and is lovely to drive.  The problem is that it needs engine work.  I have about $500 or a little more left from the car fund, but that is not enough. In mid-January I will have a $500+ concert in Sierra Vista, and I won't have to pass emissions until February, but I am not even sure that will give me enough.  The mechanic I had look at it says the fuel pressure is low, and that the work can wait a couple of months while I get some money together.  They also said what I paid was reasonable even needing engine work.  I am getting 23 mpg because of this, and should be doing better after it is fixed.  And the engine really should last forever.  One of the mechanics said he has two Toyotas and one has 500,000 miles on it.

So if you feel willing and able to help, your help would certainly be welcome, and greatly appreciated.  My paypal account is rmaraport at yahoo dot com.  Thank you in advance - this community is remarkable, and has been very kind to me.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
