The last episode of 'The Raiders of Your Lost Retirement' celebrated yesterday's great news that PBO met with labor leaders and some progressive orgs and left them heartened about protecting Social Security ....
That news was tempered by speculation that part of the fiscal fail plan upcoming is an attack on Medicare.
Today for some reason the President will meet with a group of losers called 'Fix the Debt' which include those grand purveyors of 'let them eat catfood ' .

As Talks Begin on "Fiscal Cliff," Report Warns "Fix the Debt" a Front for More Corporate Bailouts
As the White House begins a series of meetings today on the looming "fiscal cliff," a coalition of the largest corporate firms and advocacy groups is lobbying for wide-ranging cuts in government spending, including to programs like Medicare and Social Security. The group, which includes 80 of the country’s most powerful CEOs, is called the Campaign to Fix the Debt. It was co-founded by former Clinton White House Chief of Staff Erskine Bowles and former Republican Sen. Alan Simpson, previously the co-chairs of President Obama’s bipartisan National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform. Critics have accused the group of using the budget crisis to push for corporate tax cuts. We are joined by Sarah Anderson, director of the Global Economy Project at the Institute for Policy Studies and co-author of the new report, "The CEO Campaign to 'Fix' the Debt: A Trojan Horse for Massive Corporate Tax Breaks." Just sickens me to see him giving this group ANY credibilty, but I know, I know, President of all the people, bipartisanism, don't panic, the President's got this, he's always had this, multi-dimensional chess FTW!!!!! Sorry, I apologize. Just frustrated.
What to do?
What's most heartening to me is to see such a difference between what groups who elected the Pres did in 2008 and now. Mobilization for traditional Dem New Deal values STRONG !
Here's an action to take today :
Campaign for America's Future
Stop The Grand Swindle
Election Day was a smashing victory for progressives and middle-class populism. But the deficit hysterics, budget slashers and Social Security haters refuse to heed our voices.
Within hours, the austerity posse was fear-mongering around the so-called “fiscal cliff” and pressuring Washington to accept a “grand bargain” before the end of the year that would slash Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid – and plunge us into a double-dip recession
We spoke out on Election Day. Now we need to speak out louder than ever.
Click here to tell Congress: No deal that cuts Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid. No deal that keeps low tax rates for the rich. No deal that kills jobs with more cuts.
A massive coalition has formed to tell Congress there are four pillars they must adhere to for any compromise to be accepted by America’s progressive majority.
1.End the Bush tax cuts for income over $250,000.
2.Invest in jobs, education and infrastructure to grow the economy.
3.Reject any cuts to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.
4.Protect the social safety net.
Click here to tell Congress: No deal that cuts Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid. No deal that keeps low tax rates for the rich. No deal that kills jobs with more cuts.
These principles are the foundation of last week’s resounding election victory. Congress needs to know that if it doesn’t follow the will of the people, the people will fight back.
Right now, the austerity cabal is working inside the halls of Congress. It’s time for us to pound on the doors.
