At my girlfriend's house and she just got a wholly misleading robocall claiming to be raising money for John McCain or for a petition to force a joint select committee to hold hearings on the Benghazi affair.

It's not entirely clear to me who is sponsoring the call or raising the money, much less what the money is actually supposed to do. The biggest piece of crap in the call was the urgent plea to join the petition which needs to meet the "required" 150,000 people. Apparently, there must be a law that no one has ever heard of which would force Congress to form a joint select committee if they get a petition with 150,000 names.

Wow. Any thoughts?

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

twit. How many signatures would it take to force Congress to form a select committee to investigate him and the corruption that surrounds him? Only 150,000? Should be a walk in the park.

from a con org that has been calling the house since August. I think it's the 'Conservative Majority', but not sure, the speaker is always semi-shouting while talking talking at 100mph.

But mine was to create a petition and advertise the petition to demand the House start impeachment proceedings of President Obama immediately for some unspecified treasonous crime.

As I do when I have the time, I let the ad run until a human came on the phone to take my $100, then hung up.

Didn't take them long to shift their grift.

The sad side of all this crap is how it affects their believers. Of course, these calls are only one way the Republicons scare their true believers, but along with the radio/tv shows and the drumbeat of horror they evoke of a multi-cultural America that may or not believe in American Jesus. I read a news report of a tea bagger who committed suicide after election. Apparently he even left a note declaring he wouldn't live under the socialist regime that was taking over the USA. At least he didn't try to take his family members with him.
