Yes We CAN!
Adopt a Walmart!
So, here we are! Ready to support the courageous Walmart Strikers. Let's get started! Got some feedback from yesterday's diary that the CAN website was difficult to use. Well, maybe a little difficult, at least for this older Kossack. But, believe me if this Kossack could figure it out, then anyone CAN! So let's walk thru it step by step.
Step One
Please sign up for email updates at Making Change at Walmart.
http://makingchangeatwalmart.org/
Then click the big blue button that says:
"Stand With Walmart Strikers."
Now you are at the Stand-Up page, scroll down a bit & click the middle button:
"Take action on Black Friday."
Now you are at the CAN Website (Corporate Action Network.)
Scroll all the way to the bottom!
Put in your zip, or city.
Click SEARCH & voila!
Step TWO
Now, you may not need step two; perhaps this took you to several nearby actions! That's great. RSVP and you are all set. But if not, then you will see some orphan Walmarts needing adoption! It's not that hard. Let's get started!
Scroll down until you find your favorite Walmart & click the orange "adopt" button.
You will be asked to log in.
Once logged in you will be taken to your event page. Fix the time to your liking.
Click on "Publish Event."
You will be taken to Host Instruction page. There you will find many useful
suggestions, printable posters, flyers, stickers. Lot's of fun stuff.
Yours Truly adopted two orphan Walmarts. Set one for 10 AM and one for 2 PM. And then, come to find out, there is another event scheduled at a super-Walmart nearby in New Braunfels, TX for 8 PM. It's gonna be a long day of protesting!
Yours for a damn fine fight,
JayRaye
PS. tune in tomorrow for BF-5: in which a Kossack finds support for her Walmart event!

Some gems from the comments of yesterdays diaries!
Thanks so much to all who participated.
Thanks to dweb8231 for this great link on Walmart & wage theft, and for the comment that went with it. Corporate Brutality indeed:

And Ozzie posted this clip. 18 minutes, but worth it. In fact, sit down and watch it and even take notes. Organizing at this level is just what we need! Perhaps David's day is coming; Goliath may not be quite as mighty as he thinks he is:
