I don't really know what's going on in Israel and Gaza.

They are killing one another.  I know that.  Its a dispute about land?  Rights?  Land rights?

Israel seems to me to be like a 10th grade bully beating up a 7th grader who's no where near as big and is using the excuse that the 7th grader threw a rock at his tormentor.

And its stupid, I know that.  And its immeasurably important.

And like 98% of Americans that's just about all I know about the situation.  In the comments I am sure people will try and tell me what's going on but if I am truthful it won't really change anything.  I am overwhelmed with my own battles right now and just don't have room for those happening half a world away.

I am not proud of this, I am just owning my failure here.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

A central premise of US media coverage of the Israeli attack on Gaza - beyond the claim that Israel is justifiably "defending itself" - is that this is some endless conflict between two foreign entitles, and Americans can simply sit by helplessly and lament the tragedy of it all. The reality is precisely the opposite: Israeli aggression is possible only because of direct, affirmative, unstinting US diplomatic, financial and military support for Israel and everything it does.

I do not understand what you want people to discuss here.

Is this just math that you do as a Republican to make yourself feel better?

  •  That area has been a mess for nearly 2000 years, (0+ / 0-)

ever since the Romans performed "ethnic cleansing" on it and changed all the names. There was not even a city of Jerusalem for a couple of centuries - first it was a wasteland of rubble, and then it was rebuilt as a Roman provincial capitol under the name of "Aelia Capitolina".  (Exactly when the name reverted back to "Jerusalem" is unknown - perhaps the official renaming never really "took".)

I don't think anybody can possibly make any sense out of any of it any longer.

    If it's
    Not your body,
    Then it's
    Not your choice
    And it's
    None of your damn business!
