Monday!
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
If you'd like to be part of the Itzl Alert Network, please leave a comment asking to join, or send us a message asking to join. We'd love to have you. The bigger our network, the less likely someone will be stranded all alone.
Normally, this week would be my vacation time. It's been my vacation, the time when I took care of house repairs and winterized my house - with only a space heater and an electric blanket as a heat source, it's kind of essential that I do this.
But this year, a co-worker wanted this week and Christmas off, and because I'm the lowest ranking employee, I had to give up my vacation to her.
I got most of the winterizing done anyway.
I even had time to make these:
This is a little glass ball terrarium, steampunked up, as a birthday present for my sister:
And this is a cup pond I made for my brother-in-law's birthday. I actually made 2, the other one is for a friend living near by sister's house:

I found the clear glass cups at the Dollar Store. The plants are aquarium plants I harvested from other friend's aquariums, along with a half a cup of aquarium gravel split between the 2 cups. Some distilled water and a tablespoon of potting soil and 2 mini terracotta pots, and voila, a still pond for a desk.
The plants are an umbrella plat, some micrograss, and a pink grass whose name I don't know. I'm debating adding a betta or a couple of tiny tetras.
