Enough is enough. The Palestinians are not a threat to Israel's existence. Yes they cause harm. Any one put into the conditions they have survived since 1948 would be bitter and out of control. I said this to my friends in Israel in 1963 when I saw what the refugee camps were breeding. This was all so predictable. The Palestine refugee camps
were established after the 1948 Arab-Israeli War to accommodate the Palestine refugees who were either forced or chose to leave (depending on place of residence and Israeli/Arab historical interpretations) Palestine during the 1948 Arab–Israeli War. UNGA (United Nations General Assembly) Resolution 194 grants Palestinians the right to return to their homeland if they wish to "live at peace with their neighbors".
The UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East) defines a Palestine refugee as:
"Palestine refugees are persons whose normal place of residence was Palestine between June 1946 and May 1948, who lost both their homes and means of livelihood as a result of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War."
The people displaced to these camps had children...the thing went on for more than one generation. One of the most simple principles of human behavior is that is you take away all reason to belong to a society you create a very desperate and dangerous person. I saw this happening in 1963 when I was there. It has come to pass many times over. My natural sympathies have always been with the Israelis I worked with and who mentored me. One was the brother of an Israeli President. He also was one I worked with at the Weizmann Institute. I was in with some very special people. Later in life here at home I had contact with wonderful people who were from Palestine. It is impossible to tell you how stupid and useless this conflict is. I can tell you what the danger for all of us is and I will below the break.
If you go to the link above you will find a very long list of these camps. Many, if not most, are in Arab countries. This is telling. You might ask why the Palestinians do not hate the Arabs who kept them penned up in these camps. My guess is that they do on one or more levels. Yet after the first generation, the history they got came from their Arab "captors". I do not know what they were taught but I would guess it was hate.
So now you may be thinking in the small about the situation but step back. Where was the rest of the world? Roughly where they were when the Nazis were slaughtering Jews on an unbelievable scale.
And the rest of the world still sits back and watches the slaughter that was so predictable and so preventable!
We have people who love to watch mortal conflict. They raise animals to fight to the death. It is a trait I have never understood. As a youth I watched the newsreels at the end of WWII. I saw the human skeletons liberated from the Nazi camps. As young as I was I vowed that this should never happen again. I will never forget. later in life I visited the Museums in Europe and in Israel and other places. I will never get over that horror.
I worked in the civil rights struggle here and saw the brutality, learned of the lynchings and murders. I learned of the genocide this country created to steal the place from the Natives they conquered.
My coauthor Jim Coffman and I just wrote a book predicting the extinction of our species if we do not wake up. We are so far from waking up that I am in despair. We will watch as the Israelis help speed us to that extinction and their own. I weep as I think about it. What else is there to do?
