On this day set aside for giving thanks, I'm sure we all have some things we are thankful for.  And I'm sure that before days end people will be posting lists of generally the things for which they are giving thanks.

But since DailyKos is a political blog, and since in this election year we, as progressives, have enjoyed much political success, I thought it would be good to express our [political] Thanks on this day.  So I've set this up as sort of an Open Thread to invite all of you to post in the comments, the one or more things you are politically thankful for.  No rules, you can repeat what others are thankful for or post something unique.  Its up to you.  If this takes off (and that's a Big IF), I will review the comment posts as Thanksgiving Day goes on and post any "Thanks" that strike my fancy in diary updates.

Lastly, if your interested, you can jump /\ over the squiggle and see the top 10 things I'm politically thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving to All!

My Top 10 Political Thanks:

1. I'm thankful President Barack Obama has been re-elected.  (the Obvious One)

2. I'm thankful we gained seats in the Senate when many of the stupid pundits were predicting early on that we would lose the majority.

3. I'm thankful we gained seats in the House and now only lack majority control by 16 seats instead of 25.

4. I'm thankful we will no longer have to listen to right-wing, bat shit crazys in Congress like Allen West and Joe Walsh spewing hate and vitriol.

5. I'm thankful we will once again be treated to speeches from Alan Grayson on the House floor putting the Republicans in their place.

6. I'm thankful we will have Elizabeth Warren in the Senate (and hopefully on the Banking Committee), a true Progressive voice standing up for the middle class.

7. I'm thankful we are seriously talking about filibuster reform for the upcoming Senate term instead of trusting the Republicans to play fair like we did the last time.

8. I'm thankful for DailyKos Radio and the shrewd insight of David Waldman who brightens my day every morning I am able to listen in.

9. I'm thankful for Nate Silver ("Poblano") who gives us reality-based polling projections we can use to focus our GOTV efforts.

10. Lastly, I'm thankful for all my fellow GOTV volunteers who manned the phones, knocked on doors and did whatever it took to make Election Day 2012 a great success for our side!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

    Thankful for being wrong
    I'm 61 :) …
1st: I'm so so so so so so Thankful to the younger gens who made this President possible. The reality is without them, though all of us older liberals are fab, we'd be in a different (nightmare) story.
If I were planning 2014, I'd be calling every young band, musician, actor, artist, party planner, alternate museum, youth guru, swag operator & then some, asking, begging, conjugating, please, please, plan some dates to donate some concerts in the spring & summer of 2014. If during that year they'd all wear just one same t-shirt with "younger gens vote in 2014 :)"
    Being wrong:
    In these times.
(being a I've never voted for ONE repuke)
I was wrong to vote against term limits. Smart crooks need years to fool the public, the repukes don't have that many smart people to start with. They are passing politics. They now bow to the 1%, but hey what's personal ego & power when the dough's rolling in?
I do wonder though, like maybe a regular 20 year limit.
I was wrong to vote against commission drawn competitive districts.
I live in Ca., buh, bye, the few remaining repuke crook assholes.
I'd like to someday see a 20 year limit on SCOTUS.
I'm happy the democrats have finally realized that HOLDING the Presidency, is the key.
I hope that when candidates run for the presidency, the first sit down together & weigh the simplicity of the older voters.
No they're not going to vote for a Jewish VP, who turned out to be nutso.
No, they're not going to vote for a candidate whose wife they don't like. No offense John but that is the way they think.
We can have, 10 candidates, espousing the values we all hold dear to our hearts, giving the 1% twisted media lotsa twist ammunition, or weeding it down to a few to carry the banner.
The fault of this present government (I'm sure the founders are turning over in their graves) is TERM LIMITS need to be placed on SCOTUS.
And lastly for the repukes in the coming "GOP cliff."
I think Ca., if it were a nation would be the 8th largest economy in the world, a lot flows through here.
    Kiss our A's.
P.S. Thankful for all of the above & more, please.
