The Black Friday job actions were successful in that they drew attention to the plight of Walmart workers. The sad new is Walmart booked record sales with the expanded hours on Thursday night.
Destroy a family gathering or make a few extra sales does not even rise to the level of a serious questions to the Barons of Bentonville Arkansas. The Walton family have ammassed wealth equal to 48% of the US population (oh so close to Mittens magic 47%) yet they strive for more and more.
How you can help the plight of the common man below the Squiggle.
For now, Christmas Day is still safe as a true holiday. Thanksgiving night was safe once too. The corporate greed machine will grind up and spit out any and all who stand in the way of profits.
This Christmas Eve we need to say "STOP ! ! !"
At noon on the 24th, I ask all Walmart employees to walk. I encourage you the Daily Kos reader to spread the word. We need to encourage and enlighten the Walmart workers.
Stop by the store and let them know, one on one. "Walk at noon on Christmas Eve".
As they "roll back" prices, they also roll back weekly hours and reduce availability to receive healthcare. Opening stores on Thanksgiving evening was a line in the sand they crossed and it should be used as a rallying cry to push back against the machine.
Christmas Eve should be a time to be with family and friends, not selling merchandise to last minute gift givers.
"Walk at noon on Christmas Eve"
Pass it on !
