After Saxby Chambliss disavowed Grover Norquist's Taxpayer Protection Pledge, Norquist all but announced that he will find and fund a primary challenger against Chambliss in 2014 (diaried here). Well, earlier today on CNN, Norquist, in the manner of a Mafia boss, warned that anyone else who breaks the pledge can expect to face a primary challenge.
Norquist said his group would "certainly highlight who has kept their commitment and who hasn't" when it comes time for lawmakers like Sen. Lindsey Graham and Rep. Peter King to run for re-election, though Norquist claimed voters generally decide on their own to oust elected officials who vote to raise taxes.
"Historically the people who lose do so because the people in their state have figured that out," Norquist said on CNN's "Starting Point with Soledad O'Brien."

When Norquist made his usual claim that the pledge is a promise to voters, O'Brien called him out, pointing out that the signers send the pledge to ATR's headquarters in Washington.
The money quote, however, wasn't in the video. Norquist claimed that anyone who is making noises about breaking the pledge is merely "discussing impure thoughts on national television." So being responsible enough to realize that maybe, just maybe taxes have to go up is an "impure thought"? If this is Norquist's idea of being a patriot, I'll pass.
