I cannot BEGIN to tell you how good it feels to do this diary again - especially since my "hiatus" sucked donkey droppings 99.999999999999999% of the time. My work caused a few hundred mini nervous breakdowns with at least a couple of the on the border of major sparkin' grievances (props to George Carlin). I brought work home nearly every weekend, so I didn't really have honest - to - goodness weekends, either.
By far, the worst time was Election Day because even though an elitist Kenyan Marxist Socialist Arugula - Eatin' Commie snuck into the White House AGAIN, one of my beloved kitties, Mickey, died that day. It was the first time in years I wasn't glued to the television machine to watch the returns - just didn't give a $hit that night because I was so sad & hurting so much. While I'm still sad, I can begin to remember the love and the fun without immediately breaking into tears.
Since we last got together, a itch named Sandy caused and is causing a whole lotta hurt for a whole lotta people, we had ourselves another "little" war in the Middle East, Senator McCentury did his "Old Man Yells at Clouds" routine with Susan Rice, "J.R. Ewing" went to the Southfork Ranch in another dimension, and we've hopefully bid a final & permanent "Buh - Bye!" to...
Let's get historical for past November 26ths. On this date in 1825, The first college social fraternity, Kappa Alpha, was formed at Union College in Schenectady, NY. The first toga party was the next night.
On this date in 1973, President Richard Nixon's personal secretary, Rose Mary Woods, told a federal court that she'd accidentally caused part of the 18 1/2-minute gap in a key Watergate tape. Accidentally...R...I...G...H...T Finally, Tina Turner is 73 today; I wanna be Tina Turner when I'm 73 (if I live that long)! This song ranks right up near the top in my favorites category - even though she was still with Ike; sometimes, living well is the best revenge.
How much have y'all missed SPARK?! :D I can only imagine how many residents of "my fair state" have signed similar petitions. They should be happy that Rep. Defund Planned Parenthood Tea Bagger Extraordinaire "Not My Man" Mike Pence will be Governor Defund Planned Parenthood Tea Bagger Extraordinaire "Not My Man" Mike Pence when the new year hits - if those December 21st predictions don't come true. C'Mon Mayans!!! Oh, the mischief I could make if I ever come across one of these! I've got good news for anyone who wants to go to Colorado University AND pack heat AND live on campus; at this rate, you'll have an entire building to yourself! Smoking weed & packing a gun...NOTHING could go wrong. Finally, I bet this guy can kick Ted Nugent's racist traitorous sorry a$$ and take names!
On with The Rachel Maddow Show...
"Breaking News: Sen. McCain to Meet with Susan Rice" AKA "Second Time's the Charm" - OK, to Senator McCentury is going to do his "Old Man Yells at Clouds" impersonation live & in person? Lovely. I hope she rips him a new one. The acting director of the CIA will also be in the meeting. So, is someone gonna get waterboarded? The MENSA folk are itching for a fight in a potential Susan Rice SOS nomination. Did y'all see that young punk Tom Brokaw?? ;D Any MENSA folk watching the show & seeing Saint Ronnie are creaming in their jeans, now. Ah...Iran - Contra memories... Ollie North...Fawn Hall...shredders... Then, we get a reminder that FDR decided he wanted to shake up SCOTUS. So, Rachel's setting up some sort of warning to President Obama to not screw the pooch during his second term? I would think/hope he'd be smarter than that. Lots of POTUSs have had "issues" during their second terms. President Obama promised election reform the night he was re - elected? All sorts of folk are "encouraging" President Obama to address a variety of issues from gun control to election reform & "stuff." The first fight will be those pesky GWB tax cuts & the "fiscal cliff." Signs are indicating President Obama's going to use donor & other voter information to increase pressure on Congress to get their collective arses together. Michael Beschloss teaches us more presidential history. He's confident that President Obama is a history reader & knows to try to not overreach. Well, I'd rather him not UNDERreach, either. Dick Nixon was more of a crook than we all thought?! DAMN!
"Is Our Party Learning?" - Oh goody, this segment begins with my "fair state." The MENSA folk might have lost a Senate seat, but our state house has a MENSA "super" majority, and our Governator is gonna be...well...&^%$#@! Rachel, sadly, this time won't be the first time the "Hoosier" MENSA folk have tried to ram an anti - marriage equality amendment to our state constitution. In the past, efforts never even got out of committees. Now - with how IN state politics is shaping up to be? Who knows. The so - called beltway media thinks the MENSA folk have learned their lesson after their electoral spanking. Kansas is all hot & bothered to make sure "illegals" don't get free tuition to state universities. The MENSA folk have seen the light about women's health issues?? Uh...nope... Ohio wants to try to defund Planned Parenthood. New anti - abortion legislation is ready in WI, too.
"One MORE Thing" - Senator McCentury is quite popular on the Sunday morning talk shows & has been for a long damn time. He talks up a good blue streak when he's on but screws the pooch in voting on actual legislation - especially on the abortion issue & immigration reform. How often is Senator McCentury on MTP & stuff?
"Burn Notice" - Are we talking getting out the cots in DC? Nah... We won't get "tarrantino" reform in the Senate, either. And, we've passed way fewer laws, too. There won't be "tarrantino" reform in the Senate because politicians are damn short sighted & can't think past the next election cycle. The MENSA folk are crying a river at dialogue from Senate Majority Leader Reid desiring actual kind of sort of "tarrantino" reform.
"Burn Notice Part II" - There's Senator Turtle! How fun would it be for Ashley Judd to run against him?? ;D Senator Sherrod Brown won re - election despite the huge money disadvantage. He's ready for "tarrantino" reform on day 1, but it ain't gonna happen. Rachel asked the million dollar question about if the Dems become the minority in the Senate, can they live with the changes if they DO pass by some miracle of nature. Senator Brown said "yes." I say that's bull pucky, but that's just me. Rachel thinks this change will happen. And, she claims to be a pessimist!
