Black Friday? Bah. Cyber Monday? Hype. The real beginning of the holiday shopping season begins
this Friday, November 30. What happens then?
The Netroots Nation Holiday Bazaar happens then! From this Friday, November 30, through next Tuesday, December 4, you'll have the opportunity to bid on dozens of handcrafted items. And between now and Friday, you still have a chance to show off your own skills and contribute to the mix by donating an item.
What kind of item? Whatever your brain and hands can collaborate on to create. We've got art and books and clothing and jewelry and stuff that can't really be categorized, but is really cool.
And, of course, food. More specifically, chocolate. To make sure there's enough of it, I'm teaming up with mcmom to bring to you some of our family favorites. It wouldn't actually be Christmas in the McCarter household if we didn't have the favorite treats created from cherished recipes from both sides of the family: Great-Grandma Simer's phenomenal fudge—truly the best ever; Grandma Lolley's penuche; mcmom's divinity; Grandma McCarter's peanut brittle; and I don't know where it came from originally, but my contribution which is crunchy, buttery, chocolate and nut encased toffee.
This is a great excuse for mcmom and me to spend some quality time making extra goodies. Which is pretty much what Christmas is about in this family of sweet tooths (teeth?)—the treats we only make once a year. All for a good cause, of course. Your donations, and your bids on other people's donations, will help make Netroots Nation 2013 another massive success.
So pitch in with your own items, if you can. You can do that here, using the donate items link. Alternatively, e-mail donations coordinator Karen Kolber at Karen@NetrootsNation.org and she can help with the posting of your item.
And start counting your money and making your list, because the bidding is going to start soon!
