The Daily Bucket is a place where we can post and exchange our observations about the natural happenings in our neighborhoods. Birds, bugs, blossoms and more - each notation is a record that we can refer to in the future as we try to understand the natural patterns that are unwinding around us.
Seattle. December 10, 2012.
The Red-Alder (Alnus rubra) leaves are finally falling. They are the last to come to earth, many still green when they land. A year ago they scattered in early December. This year they've waited a bit longer.

The deciduous canopy is open again.
Seattle. December 10, 2012. The Red Alder trees in the Forest have shed about 50% of their leaves.
