Cookie Day!

Itzl AlertingAs you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here.  We care!

If you'd like to be part of the Itzl Alert Network, please leave a comment asking to join, or send us a message asking to join. We'd love to have you. The bigger our network, the less likely someone will be stranded all alone.

Today is Cookie Day.  I have to work today because it's not a federally recognized holiday. And isn't that a shame?

I baked cookies, but no pictures yet. We aren't celebrating until the weekend, when we can get together and spend some time.

I re-worked the Nutella cookie recipe.

Have a cookie, or cookie-like food, and think of the bounty and joy a cookie represents, comfort, happiness, sharing, pleasure.  And even decadence.

We all deserve these things in our lives, and may eating a cookie bring them into yours.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:

Woke up with the beginnings of a migraine.  DO NOT WANT!

Raining off and on, gonna splurge on a cab to the bus stop this morning, can handle the rest in the rain.  Taking FloridaSNMom's umbrella (as it is bigger than my tiny, cheap one) oh look there is even thunder! Yup, cab is a good idea!

Oh my Kindle is here, and good lord is it tiny!

But, I'm happy and now gotta finish getting ready for work.

  •  Morning! Happy Cookie Day! (6+ / 0-)

I'll be having 'nilla wafers later on today. We bought a second box yesterday because the kids have been helping me nibble away at this one. I miss daily chocolate, but 'nilla wafers are good and easy on my tummy.

So I get my glasses next Monday, at least that's the planned date. Then I'll be able to read the on screen TV guide again, and the little news ticker that runs along the bottom during some shows. I can't stand things being blurry, that's always bothered me. I even used to close my eyes while they focused those film strips in school.

I almost had a panic attack in the middle of McDonalds yesterday. When I finished my eye appointment Caedy was still about 25 minutes away. They had put those drops in my eyes and I had the goofy looking sunglasses on and everything was still bright and haloed. I don't know why that triggered that panicky, disjointed, closed in feeling I get during an MRI or cat scan, but it did. So Dad had to talk to me on the phone until Caedy got to me. Maybe it has its roots in something that happened with my first husband, that's the only thing I can think of. That's where most of my panicky ptsd stuff comes from. So next year I don't go for the eye appointment alone. But we wanted to get some Christmas shopping done yesterday and can't do that with the kids with me. I hadn't had those drops in my eyes since I was a kid, if I did then (because I don't remember it). I had no clue it was going to affect me that way.

  •  Good morning everyone! (6+ / 0-)

12/12/12 is not only cookie day, it's my 37th anniversary.  So, I will take a cookie to celebrate.

Had lunch with Melanie and Jim in Iowa yesterday.  They are a lovely couple, and we had a very nice time.

I've got to get out and get some presents today.  Time is flying.

Weck will be out shopping today, and probably won't be checking in.

    Have a great day.

I am a work in progress. Still.

Great shopping trip, except for losing my keys, now I have to back track (by phone at first) tomorrow morning.  I'm tired and will be nodding off early tonight!

If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever. &
