The shooter killed two and then himself. he also shot a 16 year old girl who is in the hospital in Serious condition, tho not serious enough to operate. (Sketchy but its what theyre putting out.)

they have identified the shooter but are still not releasing his name.

So far they are saying this was an entirely random incident.

I watched an interview of a shop owner, Rok Sang Kim, who came out and confronted the guy. He said the guy was a teenager, maybe 16, short, skinny. He told the guy NO NO DON'T DO THAT!! and the guy turned and ran away. Now that was a shopowner with some cojones! I'm gonna go buy something at his store!

I like KATU but there's other sources.

One thing coming out is that this may have been foretold beforehand on something called 4chan. Evidently someone, perhaps the shooter, posted a picture of the mall and said he was going to "shoot this fucking mall up".  This is not the first time this has happened at 4 chan

There's still no place I'd rather live than Oregon

My sincerest best wishes and condolences for the familes and friends of the victims.

Whats really coming out is the acts of individual heroism that are coming out---people helping other people. This is whats good about America, makes you proud of our community. True heroes come out of the woodwork.

My best wishes to all who helped

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
