Thursday!

Itzl AlertingAs you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here.  We care!

If you'd like to be part of the Itzl Alert Network, please leave a comment asking to join, or send us a message asking to join. We'd love to have you. The bigger our network, the less likely someone will be stranded all alone.

So, we survived 12/12/12, 12:12:12 am and 12/12/12, 12:12:12 pm.  There goes that "end of the world" theory.

And for those who are into both knitting and Dr. Who, here's a link to a very sophisticated Tardis scarf/shawl, suitable for wearing to work.

And, for those who are thinking we won't be seeing another repetitive date in our lifetimes, 1/3/13 is less than a month away.  And then we have 2/2/22, 2/22/22, 3/3/33, not to mention 1/2/34, which isn't exactly repetitive, but is linear... And on to 4/4/44. 5/5/55, 6/6/66, 7/7/77, 8/8/88, 9/9/99. Then, each century, we get to start all over again. We will probably never run out of repetitive dates.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:

I saw something on twitter to the effect of "I've lived through 1/1/1, 2/2/2, .... 11/11/11, 12/12/12 and have given 0/0/0 fucks about it"

Well I just finished watching nearly the entire 12/12/12 (oops, there I again) concert to benefit the areas affected by Hurricane Sandy. Had no idea when I started watching at 5:30 my time that it was going to go on soooo loooong. But, a lot of great rockers there, especially legends like Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones etc from the days of my misspent youth.

Very, very impressive evening. The best part was sharing it here on the three different diaries that sprang up around the effect. Much better than watching it alone!

    So - g'night all.

    Ugh! Just ugh!

I seriously am hating the 6am shifts now.  Miss being able to sleep in a little bit (yes for me 4 am is sleeping in!).

Anyway, getting ready to head out the door!

    Have a good day all.

Not fully awake yet. It's supposed to be cooler today. Yesterday it hit 78. The projected high today is 65. Right now it's 62. Comfortable though, for the most part. And the range is narrow, only supposed to go down to 56 tonight. So maybe it won't mess with my lungs too much yay!

I need to work on the house a bit more today, given my body cooperates. Also promised my daughter I would watch Brave with her, and I need to watch MIB3 at some point before it goes back. I guess that means I won't over do it like last time, because I'm going to take time out to watch movies?

I watched the 12/12/12 concert also.  Gawd those guys are getting old, like me :(.  Oh well.

I bought some presents yesterday, and will be going out later to buy some more.  The stores weren't too busy, so it wasn't bad.

Going to be 47 and partly cloudy today.

    Have a great day.

I am a work in progress. Still.

in a row here!  I have to track down the keys I lost yesterday, and maybe go and get them (I will try to get them mailed back to me if I can).

Tomorrow I go for groceries!  Which sort of means there is a big sale on cat food, and I need to stock up.  I am feeding a lot of cats, a few crows, possibly a raccoon and an opossum and last night when I got home, when I went to check the little feral female, I discovered I am feeding a beautiful, fat skunk!!  (Run away, Flee!)

I must address the skunk in the garden shed thing, skunk should be hibernating by now, but my plan is to put cat food up higher, leave a light on and discourage it from eating in the shed.

      I hate that.

Skunks only throw stink when they feel threatened. Fat, sassy skunks don't frighten easily.

fattest boldest skunks!  I had a (litter?) of them born in my garage and my young cats played with the babies to no ill effect.

However, I am afraid of them.  I fear one will die under a porch or something and I will not be able to stop the smell.  I am afraid my dog will get loose and try to herd the skunk like he does the cats.   I do not want another litter!  They do carry rabies, and we have just had a case in a cat in my county (unusual, we have a high compliance rate of rabies
prevention here, because the counties give the shots for free to any pet that can contract the disease.)

I just want this one to move on, so I don't have anxiety every time I go into the garden shed!

        The good news?

My Keys have been located, and at the closest possible location.  Another (much shorter) road trip today!

I can combine this with the cat food trip, so I guess it's only a few extra miles. I never travel without extra car keys but this was my only complete set of house keys.

I am quite relieved to find them.

p.s. your noshes collection looks great!   Could it be an Octopodicon Fundraiser as an E book?  I have only collected dips so far, and I understand the part about being loose on cards in multiple locations.
